Medium straw in colour with bright, green tinges. Intense aromas of ripe citrus lemon and stone fruit with a hint of toasty oak interwoven with a rich and savoury palate that is complex, textural with a juicy finish. A rich, powerful and elegant wine. Eileen Hardy Chardonnay looks to preserve the essential characteristics of the fruit in the vineyard. To create the highest quality blend every vintage. Gentle handling of the fruit and wine help to achieve this, while restrained winemaking assists in developing the complexity of the final blend.
Eileen Hardy was the Hardy family matriarch, an indomitable spirit and the first lady of Australian wine; her love of life still echoes through every Hardys wine and provides the inspiration to be the best. Winemakers select only the very best handpicked parcels of fruit from regions throughout Australia to carry the Eileen name.
97 Points - James Halliday wine Companion
"Tasmanian and Yarra Valley fruit bursting with flavour and complexity in equal measure, yet linear in its profile. An amalgam of excellent fruit, mouth-watering sulphides, seamless oak integration and zest appeal, with everything reined-in by superfine acidity. Chardonnay nirvana well and truly thriving in Australia."
96 Points - Huon Hooke The Real Review
"Bright, medium-yellow colour, with a hazelnutty bouquet showing some development, while the taste is rich and complex, flavoursome and fleshy, savoury and deliciously textural. There are buttery, roast hazelnutty complexities and the wine is sumptuously flavoured and textured without compromising its subtlety or refreshing qualities. An outstanding chardonnay."
95 Points - Mike Bennie The Wine Front
"This is 70% from Hardy’s Hoddles Creek in Yarra Valley, and 20% east coast Tasmania, and 10% Meadowbank vineyard in ‘southern’ Tasmania. This is a beauty. Powerful but graceful and refreshing. Layered with judicious sweet and spicy oak, sumptuous, fresh stone fruit and green apple flavours, detail in ‘mineral’ charm and ‘savoury note’. So much going on. And though so much going on, such harmony and precision, despite the assertive nature of the wine. It’s regal stuff here, done so well."
