A lip-smackingly delicious Vinho Verde, with aromas of apple and grapefruit alongside herbal notes. Refreshing on the palate, with the classic touch of spritz. The Quinta da Lixa is made from some classic grape varieties grown in the Vinho Verde region. It has a bright, lemon tinged appearance with aroma that is fruity, with hints of tropical fruits and a flowery character. In the mouth, it is well balanced, dry, with a lovely fresh finish.
Quinta da Lixa is a living testament to the passion that the Meireles family has always had for Vinho Verde. This family has a number of business interests, and, while still it owned the vineyards around the small town of Vila da Lixa, it decided in 1986 to set up a small firm, and this became what is now known as the Quinta da Lixa
Daniel Perches, Wine Meeting
The Loureiro grape is typical of this Portuguese region, which has a very nice floral and citrus aromas. This wine can even have some bubbles, which is typical of this region and does not mean that it is spoiled. On the contrary, it shows its freshness.

Look no further for the most delightfully fresh, light, and zippy Summer white – and at only 10.5% alcohol, it’s a brilliant buy for alfresco lunches, or a glass in the sunshine. From the northern part of Portugal, it’s part of a new wave of deliciously crisp, bone dry whites from the Vinho Verde region, which are now hitting the shelves. It smells of freshly-cut green apples, lemon zest and meadow flowers; taste it, and it tingles the senses with its crisp, lively flavours, and, with a tiny hint of spritz, it’s packed with vibrant lemon and lime, granny smith apple and white peach flavours. Perfect on its own, this delicate little number will be a subtle partner to oysters, the freshest of seafood, and light vegetable salads.
The Guardian Fiona Beckett
Vinho verde, which comes from the north of Portugal, is another wine to look out for during these dog days of summer.
